Set within 650 acres of old parkland and native woodland, Borris
Demense is completely unique and the walled estate with electric
gates will offer you and your guests total privacy and exclusivity.
Considered to be one of the finest houses in Ireland, Borris House
has great charm: with family portraits, antique furniture, crackling
log fires and warm hospitality. The house has four reception rooms,
which
are spacious and stunningly enhanced with decorative plasterwork
dating back from 1812 and considered to be some of the finest
examples of Irish craftsmanship in the country. An impressive
round hallway sets the tone, while the drawing room and smaller
sitting room combine elements of grandeur with a pleasant country
atmosphere and the dining room with its elegant interior impresses
everyone.
Borris
House lends itself wonderfully to photo shoots, bespoke events,
music videos and is a very versatile film location. It has been
used in the past by Confetti Magazine, VIP Magazine, Diageo, Richie
Kavanagh and many musicians and artists. In fact Borris House
seems to be a place of inspiration and creativity as the house
has been taken on an exclusive basis by bands such as The Thompson
Twins, Right Said Fred and The Hothouse Flowers and inspired regular
visiting artists and musicians such as Maria McKee, Barry Cook
and American artist Bob Parker.
There
are many things to do onsite during your stay at Borris House
including tours of the house and Borris lace, horse and pony trekking
through the native woodland surrounding the house, canoeing on
the River Barrow, walking and cycling around the many lanes and
paths, playing golf on the 9-hole Borris golf course and archery
and clay-pigeon shooting. Things to do in the surrounding area
are quad biking, fishing, horse racing and for walkers the choice
is second to none with both difficult and easy terrains of varying
degrees on offer, these include the picturesque Blackstairs Mountains,
The Barrow Way and The South Leinster Way, all these walks are
very well sign-posted and more information on these walks can
be provided. For those more interested in visiting the archaeological
or historical sites in the area visitors won't be disappointed
with what is on offer, with Jerpoint Abbey, picturesque St Mullins,
Duiske Abbey founded by Norman monks and Kilkenny Castle to name
but a few. There are also many good restaurants and traditional
pubs in the area which are noted for their genial hospitality.
Borris
Demense provides the ideal surroundings for you to spend quality
time for a short-term rental, anniversaries and celebrations,
or a bespoke event. Whatever your choice, every occasion is unique
and tailored to meet your every request.
