Borris
Farm Cottage is a two storey granite semi-detached cottage situated
in the Victorian farmyard of Borris House. It is very picturesque
with roses growing around the door and roses growing in the garden.
It faces on to a lovely paddock that comes complete with a pony
and apple trees and backs onto 650 acres of pleasure grounds,
woodland, golf course and miles of tracks, paths and lanes to
explore. The cottage has a separate sitting room and a separate
kitchen downstairs. Upstairs consists of 1 double bedroom with
ensuite bathroom, 1 twin room and 1 single room upstairs with
a separate shower room. The cottage has an open fire, electric
wall radiators and cottage style furniture. It also comes complete
with cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave,
toaster, kettle, utensils, pots, pans, crockery, glasses, bed
linen, TV and DVD player. We can also provide a cot, high chair
and safety gates for toddlers. We also provide a small supply
of the basics to get you going on your holiday, such as dishwasher
tablets, washing up liquid, cleaning equipment, loo roll, tea-bags,
salt and pepper, etc. We also provide towels and tea-towels. There
is a nice lawn area to sit outside on those long warm evenings
and parking is situated just outside the door.
There
are many things to do onsite during your stay at Borris House
including tours of the house and Borris lace, horse and pony trekking
through the native woodland surrounding the house, canoeing on
the River Barrow, walking and cycling around the many lanes and
paths, playing golf on the 9-hole Borris golf course, fishing
on the River Barrow, playing tennis and clay-pigeon shooting.
Things to do in the surrounding area are quad biking, horse racing,
hand gliding and for walkers the choice is second to none with
both difficult and easy terrains of varying degrees on offer.
Walks include the picturesque Blackstairs Mountains, The Barrow
Way and The South Leinster Way, all these walks are very well
sign-posted and more information on these walks can be provided.
For those more interested in visiting the archaeological or historical
sites in the area visitors won't be disappointed with what is
on offer, with Jerpoint Abbey, picturesque St Mullins, Duiske
Abbey founded by Norman monks, The Dunbrody Famine Ship, The Ros
Tapestry and Kilkenny Castle to name but a few. There are also
many good restaurants and traditional pubs in the area which are
noted for their genial hospitality.
